Orlando’s New Performing Arts Center

June 22, 2011

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Breaks Ground June 23rd

After approval in 2007, plans for breaking ground on the construction of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts (DPAC) were delayed until the funding gap closed this past May.  The $383 million project will break ground Thursday, June 23rd and will begin a three day groundbreaking celebration.  The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday with a special performance by Broadway singer and performer and Orlando native, Davis Gaines.  The community is also invited to the open house on June 24th from 11am-2pm and June 25th from 12pm-4pm.  The open house will include numerous performances from local artists and groups.

As a supplier of construction equipment, Walker Miller Equipment has awaited this groundbreaking since its announcement in 2007 for several reasons.  Primarily, this project will hopefully stimulate the hurting Central Florida economy and increase tourism and hospitality revenues.  Also, this new center should specifically help the construction industry in a time when new projects are scarce.

Walker Miller Equipment is looking forward to the future center and watching it grow and develop.  This is an exciting time in Central Florida history and we are thankful to be apart of it.
