Happy 100th Birthday, Toro Company

July 10th marked the 100th birthday of Toro Company of Bloomington, Minnesota. Toro’s chairman and CEO, Michael Hoffman, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton and the Bloomington Mayor celebrated the company’s rich history, the individuals and innovations that helped make Toro Co. the success that it is today.

100 years in business directly relates to the commitment of employees, research and innovation that Toro is known for. Employees have  benefits, education reimbursements, as well as a variety of onsite clubs from Camping, to Soccer and Quilting. Volunteer opportunities are encouraged and organized with programs like United Way and Habitat for Humanity. Toro’s Center for Advanced Turf Technologies or CATT, identifies emerging trends in turf care, helps discover new productivity solutions, conserve water, reduce fuel consumption, and improve growing conditions. Research is relentless. “Dr. James R. Watson Research and Development Proving Grounds” – represents what once was the only research center of its kind in the world. Leading a team of 25 researchers, Dr. Watson conducted studies on a variety of grasses and soils to ensure best management practices in fertilization and water usage, as well as approaches for controlling unwanted grasses, disease and pests. 

Toro is so much more than lawn mowers. Homeowners are one of six markets that Toro covers.
