FDOT Moves Forward with I-4 Renovation Project

The Florida Department of Transportation and international construction firm Skanska has finalized the details for financing, designing, building, operating and maintaining the I-4 Ultimate project for 40 years. The project is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2015. 21 miles of road will be torn up and replaced, from west of Kirkman Road in Orange County to east of State Road 434 in Seminole County. In addition to the lanes drivers are familiar with now, there will be four new express lanes, that will be tolled.
This project is very exciting for the community of Central Florida, as I-4 gets a much needed renovation. This project will reduce congestion on one of Florida’s busiest highways and will create thousands of temporary construction jobs, and give businesses the opportunity The project is expected to be completed in 2021.
